New York's bottle bill was recently expanded to include water bottles, but the expansion left out a large and growing group of beverages, including sports drinks, iced teas, and other sugar waters.  The bill also failed to address the state's outdated and confusing practice of allowing stores to not accept containers for recycling that they do not sell.  Read more.

New York City passed a local law that places a number of requirements on manufacturers, including residential pick-up for certain waste electronic devices. The ordinance is now the subject of a federal lawsuit.  Read more.
