Missouri E-waste Law
Missouri acting governor Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder signed SB 720, the Manufacturer Responsibility and Consumer Convenience Equipment Collection and Recovery Act, on June 16, 2008. This law provides free electronic waste recycling for consumers by requiring manufacturers to implement recovery plans to collect and recycle or reuse their obsolete equipment.
Detail
The act requires manufacturers of computers to implement "recovery plans" for the collection of and the recycling or reuse of their obsolete equipment. The plans are due July 1, 2010 and collection must start after that. The recovery plan must be implemented and a copy of the plan submitted to the Department of Natural Resources before the manufacturer can sell its computers in Missouri.
