Hawaii's Beverage Container Deposit Program was enacted in 2002 and covers soft drinks, beer, water, mixed spirits and wine, coffee and teas in metal, glass, and PET or HDPE bottles under 64 ounces.  The law requires a deposit amount of 5 cents on the covered containers.

According to the Container Recycling Institute, Hawaii's bottle bill has resulted in a recycling rate of 79%.
